I'm really eager to delve into this "platform" of Hitman 2 as it evolves. Like the first game, "Elusive Targets" will be made available, with their missions only playable once per player, whether you succeed, fail, or miss it entirely. Even with the existing content, there is so much to extrapolate from. The game encourages players to "master" each level, complete challenges, do all the story missions, and come with new ways to approach these situations. You are rewarded with new starting points, items, and other useful trinkets and perks. Unlike most games that are dense with content, I actually want to take advantage of it all, rather than quickly getting through the story through brute force and never stopping to smell the roses like I do in many open-world games currently on the market. As I write this Hitman 2 review, I am super antsy to finish it up, because I just really, really want to play more.

Though some elements are clearly still being developed and will evolve in the future, HITMAN 2 is a great example of games-as-a-service done right. Specifically, the base game is a an already strong offering that will no doubt grow into something even better as time goes by. Eclipsing the previous game in practically every way, HITMAN 2 successfully leverages strong level design, creative kills and absurdist situations to offer the best Hitman experience to date.

Hitman 2 is an excellent sequel full of opportunities that combines the best aspects of its predecessor with strong new additions to put 47's abilities to the test.

Hitman 2 is possibly the best version of this darkly comic murder simulator we’ve seen in quite some time.

All told, Hitman 2 is a heck of a treat for Hitman fans, offering the most refined mechanics, craziest antics, and most complex levels yet seen in the franchise. Each of the five core levels can be played for potentially a dozen or more hours, offering fantastic replayability for those who like to mess around with the Hitman formula. There's an argument to be had that Hitman 2 plays it a little self, but when it's so damned good, and unique, at what it does, you'll hear little argument from me.

Mission stories once again act as great training wheels to get players up to speed with the game’s mechanics and environments, and from there, Hitman 2 has a wealth of possibilities just waiting to be explored, enjoyed and revelled in. And they should be.

There's no forced path or endless pile of hints to the point that the game almost plays itself. Hitman 2 lets you play your own way, and it's all the more rewarding as a result.

A great sequel for those who just wanted another Hitman with huge new maps. New game is still as great as the previous one, despite the lack of big meaningful gameplay additions.

Hitman 2 once more tries to deliver delightful moments in silently assassinating a person (eliminating a target). This kind of creativity is very rare in modern games and we don't often see a game which is so focused on level-design details. The new elements in gameplay, made the experiense of [playing as] the silent assassin feel more realistic and by compensating for AI shortcomings and the weak story-telling, managed to make this game an enjoyable and valuable game with high replayability

Hitman 2, while feeling more like “Season 2” than a full blown sequel (and likely was internally) is still a hard package to pass up when you’re getting more of what’s easily the best iteration in the series

Hitman 2 is a worthy successor to the first reboot. While it could’ve been a meaty expansion, given the focus on refining mechanics rather than introducing new ones, it's a perfect sequel to a near-perfect game, and why would you mess with perfection?

Overall, Hitman 2 is an incredible game marred by the inclusion of a confusing and hollow story. However, the story is definitely not necessary to get enjoyment out of this title. The way the game is built allows practically anyone to have a great time executing stages and targets in their own way.

More of the same can be a good thing, and Hitman 2 does that by offering more of what makes the first game so incredible, with some extras added on the side.

While Hitman 2 is, in many ways, more of an upgrade to the previous game than a full-blooded sequel, it’s crammed full of interesting interaction and now its topped off with a genuinely excellent multiplayer in the form of Ghost Mode and legacy content, it’s the best Hitman package ever put together.

HITMAN 2 feels like it sits on well-trodden ground with little deviation from 2016’s HITMAN game despite some notable differences. The core game isn’t broke and needs no adjustment – although a classic mode complete with suspicion and awakening KO’d NPCs is a desire. With plenty of options to suit the skills of a varied audience, HITMAN 2 presents itself as the ultimate assassination/murder/subterfuge sandbox game. It accomplishes its goals with ease and with all the trimmings included means fans of the series will have a blast. HITMAN 2 is accessible to new players and vets in equal measure making for a slick and stylish action stealth game to eat away the Winter nights. Ultimately, it’s fun, easy to understand and well executed. Additional features waiting in the wings such as the elusive targets means players have more to look forwards to in terms of game support.

Hitman 2 is the perfect game for fans of the franchise that are looking for an excuse to dive back in. It doesn't do much to improve on the original formula, but the original formula is still fun and exciting enough to carry the game when combined with IO Interactives attention to detail, level design, and NPC AI. The whole game feels like you're wandering around living, breathing environments that are built to challenge your skills and creativity as an assassin, but that manages to do so in a way that feels fun and addicting even after multiple runs through the same level.
