Slight disappointments aside, Metro Exodus is a fitting continuation of Artyom’s onward journey through the remains of a post-nuclear world. It’s a grim, yet beautiful, mix of open world and linear first person shooting that isn’t afraid to throw challenges at you from beginning to end.

Ultimately, I feel like you have to buy in. If you want to start picking plot threads or quibble about level design, you can, but I don’t think there’s a lot of value to it. Get in, loser, we’re going to find humanity.

But, get past those gripes and there is a competent, strongly put together first-person sneaker in there. Realised in some of the most beautiful locations to date, alongside a constant in game narrative with a ragtag team that is as adaptive to the change as you are, there is depth to Exodus.

Metro Exodus demands patience and prior knowledge if you’re looking to appreciate every narrative moment, and the control scheme is likely to confound new players, but it’s an essential purchase to fans of the prior games that want to see Artyom’s journey through to the end.

Metro Exodus is the best in the series, offering a perfect blend of old and new gameplay mechanics as well as a much more grounded story diving deeper into the people that inhabit the game's post-apocalyptic Russia

Metro on the surface ... is that still metro? Of course, after all, it is called Metro Exodus (lt excerpt). I have not played such a good story shooter for a long time. In the previous parts you were only allowed to surface for a short time, but in Exodus we leave the ground and explore the irradiated surface of Russia. Of course, Russia is not yet cleared of radiation, but here and there it is less strong, which makes the area no less dangerous. Bandits, mutants, demons ... evil has many names and forms. But what makes Metro so special? On the one hand, the story, which has taken me quite a bit towards the end, the survival aspect, that one must always keep an eye on filters, medicine packs and ammunition, some thrills in the shafts of the Metro, the darkness, a little bit of horror, not too much, just right. This mix makes Metro really special. And what you must not forget, karma. The game remembers whether we are peacefully coping with the game, or riveting everything that comes our way, and this also has an effect on the end, which in turn increases the counter-value. I went quite neutral to Metro Exodus and I'm really excited!

Metro Exodus on the PlayStation 5 is more than a simple upgrade, but instead takes advantage of everything the console has to offer. Excellent visuals and performance? Check. Immersive DualSense functionality? Check. Activity Card features to keep track of everything in each area? Check. It really has it all (and I haven’t even touched upon the improved loading times). Whilst the gameplay remains the same (and still has some of the same flaws in places), the new innovations and improvements brought with the PlayStation 5 version of Metro Exodus really take things to the next level. Whether you have played through the adventure before or this is your first time exploring this desolate and broken world, the PlayStation 5 offers the best way to experience it.

Metro: Exodus is a good example of how a series can left behind some of its core ideas and still deliver a well-defined experience for the players that played the previous games. With great pace and outstanding atmospheric details, 4A Games latest production will fill the nuclear gap left by the previous leader of the post apocalyptic genre.

Metro Exodus makes great progress in terms of open-world and battle system. And of course, it offers an outstanding thrilling story just like its prequels.

Metro Exodus is a more than worthy successor to Last Light, successfully introducing open levels to break up the more linear sequences, while also retaining the unique look, feel and incredible atmosphere that made the previous games so memorable.

It's easy to perceive that Metro Exodus is the evolution of the two previous 4A games. The open spaces, the good narrative and the mix of shooter, crafting and stealth get an adventure that could be better with a more coherent enemy AI and more technical stability. If this is your first video game in the Metro series, you will be surprised. If you're a Metro fan, too.

Metro Exodus is an amazing and beautiful game that offers a new style and experience from 2033 and Last Light. With polished visuals and an amazing soundtrack, the changes 4A Games have implemented create awesome environments and enjoyable gameplay, taking you across various landscapes of Europe. However, in doing so, the survival horror and dark, claustrophobic tone have almost entirely been left behind at the station.

Metro: Exodus is the final chapter of an important saga: the title created by 4A Games and produced by Deep Silver is not only an excellent shooter, characterized by a unique and inimitable gunplay, but it is also one of the last bastions FPS dedicated to the single player, still able to put the player at the center of the narrative.
