Rescue Team DX is exactly how a remake should be. This is a game that’s faithful to the original, with some overhauls that make it more streamlined and accessible to a brand new generation of players.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps not only managed to live up to the original game, but also expand on it in almost every way you can imagine. The new combat system, boss fights, story, music and world design all come together for an unforgettable experience that I would recommend to anyone.

10 / 10.0 - DOOM Eternal
Mar 20, 2020

To sum things up, Id Software had a colossal challenge trying to improve upon what was already perfect, but Cacodemons be praised, they did it. Doom Eternal is one of the most technically advanced games from this entire generation, a masterful achievement in graphics, framerates, gameplay, and sound. It is a game that is hell-bent on giving you a gigantic smile at all times, making you feel like a brutal god of destruction, a force to be reckoned with, someone to be feared.

10 / 10.0 - Persona 5 Royal
Apr 7, 2020

A superb JRPG was made even better in every single facet. Persona 5 Royal is without a doubt one of the greatest games of this generation. After 115 hours I still look forward to an eventual fourth playthrough in the future.

10 / 10.0 - Ghost of Tsushima
Aug 7, 2020

Not only is it one one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever played, but it’s probably the most immersive open world game I’ve ever experienced. This is a rare gem that is not only a piece of art, but also incredibly fun and satisfying to play.

10 / 10.0 - Hades
Sep 25, 2020

I have to say that while I was expecting to enjoy Hades mainly on the merit that it’s a Supergiant Games title, I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did. Everything from the premise, the art style, sound design, and combat are masterfully done. I can’t put this game down and I’m not even a big fan of roguelikes.

Crash Bandicoot 4 just about accomplishes near perfection in terms of being an effective and original platformer, and is now my favorite one of the genre and series. What was once great is now fantastic, what was once flawed is now fixed. Questions are answered, demands are met with great results and improvement.

10 / 10.0 - Ghostrunner
Nov 4, 2020

Ghostrunner is one of the most fun games I’ve played this year. The fast and difficult one-hit-kill gameplay is constantly thrilling, whilst a surprisingly decent story and progression system help keep things interesting. Not to mention the killer soundtrack and fantastic visuals. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got my times to beat. I won’t stop playing this one for a while.

Regardless of whether or not I return to play Little Nightmares II again, it was one hell of a ride that I won’t soon forget. It had my attention from start to finish and was perfect through and through. The atmosphere, story surprises, and tense moments kept me up playing way too late on a work night and I don’t regret a moment of it.

10 / 10.0 - Forza Horizon 5

Forza Horizon 5 is the ultimate car enthusiast’s power fantasy. It’s a game that just wants you to go bananas and appreciate the beauty behind motoring, by offering every single tool, event, car model and online functionality available.

If I haven’t made it clear enough, I love this game. It’s a clear product of care and passion, and you can see that poured into every aspect of it. The battle system, demon fusion, demon animations, and the entire design of the open world. And none of that touches on the actual meat of the game. The story, the world and lore, and how everything comes together. It took forever to get here, but the waiting was absolutely worth it.

Endwalker does exactly what it sets out to do. It ends a long-running story with style, and give us even more of the game that we love. Such a fantastic end to the storyline, and I am looking forward to what the future holds for Final Fantasy XIV.

Creative Assembly can rest easy knowing they have created something truly magnificent. This is the number one choice for any fantasy strategy gamers. Nothing comes close, and who knows if something of this scale and grandeur will ever be attempted again. Or for that matter, even needs to be.

10 / 10.0 - Rogue Legacy 2
May 23, 2022

Rogue Legacy 2 is a masterwork in taking something already great and elevating it without getting lost in ambition and abandoning the core interest. It’s Mega Man 2. It’s LeChuck’s Revenge. It’s freaking Super Smash Bros. Melee. This is the way all sequels should be, and I’m ecstatic to finish my review so I can go back and play it again.

10 / 10.0 - Elden Ring
Jul 26, 2022

The final question: does Elden Ring hold up after nearly half a year? Yes. Is it still the best game of 2022, after the barrage of titles we’ve seen from March to July? Absolutely. That initial buzz may have died out a bit, but I’d have to be insane not to call it one of the most impressive games I’ve played in years, and most importantly, FromSoftware’s greatest title of all time. It’s as special now as it was back when it dropped onto the world like a nuke.

10 / 10.0 - Persona 5 Royal

I have played on three separate occasions and I loved each one. There’s something truly special about the way the mechanics marry together. I love their cohesiveness. Thanks to fixes made to nonsensical calls from the vanilla version, I had a blast.

It’s a game that I genuinely believe to be one of the greatest JRPGs I’ve had the pleasure to play. If there was never another Xenoblade game (although let’s face it, there will be though), I would be perfectly satisficed with this momentous well-crafted conclusion.

So everything is being given to fans here. As many songs, as many characters, as many different ways to play and enjoy and remember as possible. This may very well be the swan song for THEATRHYTHM, but it is an impossibly wonderful last act. My only hope is that we might, someday, see a PC port so that fans can continue to keep it alive and, perhaps, give justice to the songs that were forgotten (Gau and Shadow, I’m sorry). But, as it lies right now, there is nothing left to give but a standing ovation.

The developers proved they listened to their fans by including more travel banter and all-new companion sidequests, giving them believable reasons as to why they would be traveling with each other. All the new features enhanced an already great concept, making Octopath Traveler II a true masterpiece of a RPG.

When the Resident Evil 2 Remake was released back in 2019, I believed the series had peaked and that it couldn’t get any better. I was completely wrong. The Resident Evil 4 Remake takes everything that worked about the original, taking away the few things that didn’t work, and then bringing in some modern features to create an entirely new masterpiece. Finding a perfect balance between new and old. This is for everyone to enjoy.
