Starbreeze promised the apex of the Payday series and delivered a game that looks last-gen that's nearly impossible to play thanks to the terrible matchmaking and the awful servers. This game is a joke and should be called an alpha version.

Hopefully with heist updates and stability fixes Payday 3 will eventually shine.
Two steps forward with the gunplay and graphics, a hundred steps back with pretty much...everything else. Absolutely not for recommendation in this current state.
Payday 3, while having a decent play loop, is a direct downgrade from its predecessor and is loaded with anti-consumer mechanics and major technical issues.
To make matters worse the game didn’t work for like a week after its launch due to its reliance on an always online model. Server issues plagued users on all systems, some people weren’t able to redeem their items that they had paid extra for, it was just a mess. Oddly enough, I was able to play before launch which means I didn’t get to play with real people as I gave up trying to play the game after day 3 of it not working. While I never was able to compete a heist that didn’t devolve into a shootout, I am sure there will be those pros that can. As I type this the servers are still working and Starbreeze is reporting millions of players; and I wish them well but I am gonna take my cut and get off here. Hopefully next time their game is functional at launch.
Not only can fans expect future Payday 3 updates to add more unlockables to the game, but more substantial content like new heists are in the pipeline as well. Future updates will likely iron out Payday 3's matchmaking problems and immersion-breaking graphical mishaps, resulting in a smoother and more consistently entertaining experience. With future updates, Payday 3 may even be a game that surpasses its predecessor, but it has a seriously long way to go. Those still curious should consider checking out Payday 3 through Xbox Game Pass instead of buying the game at full price.
Payday 3 offers a refined gameplay experience, but the lack of a decent progression system and QoL features holds it back from greatness.
Payday 3 is a competent addition to the heist genre, offering intense firefights and complex missions. However, its shift in tone and overemphasis on stealth may not appeal to all fans of the series. It’s a game that shows promise and could very well evolve into something greater with future updates…but for now, it’s probably best to wait and see.

Payday 3 is fun and engaging when it works, but more often than not, it doesn’t. The servers that are constantly down, the overall lack of content, the cut features from Payday 2, and the lazily put-together cutscenes all prevent this from being a title worth experiencing, even for the diehard fans. I have no doubt that Starbreeze will polish this title in time, but for now, it’s an easy skip.
Poorly executed, lacking creativity, with restricted progression and fun grounded only by co-op, PAYDAY 3 is a difficult recommendation even for fans of the franchise.

PAYDAY 3 has lots of potential but it's defective AI and server problems really make enjoying this game difficult. Also, PAYDAY 3 is badly affected with bugs and technical issues but still if you can play the game with your friends, level design and fun mechanics can lead to an enjoyable experience.

Starbreeze Studios' Payday 3 improves the series' base gameplay but falls behind on progression, matchmaking, quality of life and more. The lack of social options makes it an even lesser co-op experience.
Payday 3 has its enjoyable moments, bringing its well-known cooperative heists into a new game engine. However its lack of content, outdated gunplay, underwhelming AI, and unfinished cutscenes leave a lot to be desired. If you're a series fan looking for a substantial step-up in this sequel then this isn't it. However, if you're after a multiplayer title to clown around in for a few hours, this will suffice.
Starbreeze Studios and Deep Silver are back with the intention of winning back Payday 3 players with Syntax Error, the game's first expansion. However, the new features are not enough to catch the community's attention, especially because of the pack's high price.

Despite having had a decade to come up with new ideas and heists this is a disappointingly hollow sequel that offers too few reasons for not just sticking with the last game.
With a desire to attract more players to a cops and robbers experience, it’s clear Payday 3 is still continuing to improve itself while aiming to add more content over time.
PayDay 3 is a great game, but it is not ‘part 3’. Instead, we got PayDay 2,5 with tons of unnecessary stuff, weird solutions and elements that are lacking. Somewhere, there is a very good game with a cool soundtrack to be found, but that’s not enough.

There’s probably an audience for Payday 3, as there was for the previous game. A jank-tolerant group of friends might have fun killing some time and causing mayhem. They’d have to have a pretty low bar for shooter mechanics, graphics, and story, though. Apart from that. there’s really no reason to spend money or time with Payday 3.
It has received high expectations from many fans, but it falls far short of surpassing the previous game that was created over the course of 10 years. Irrational matchmaking, lackluster content, and a UI that is unmatched in its inconvenience all raise concerns about the future of the Payday series itself.
