Fe Reviews
In Fe, tried and true gameplay mechanics meet new ideas in interesting and beautiful ways.
Fe definitely owes a conceptual debt to the likes of Ori and the Blind Forest, and in places feels as twee as earlier EA indie effort Unravel, but this is more than original enough to stand on its own merits. The mind-warping use of colour and its near-spectral environments sometimes work against Fe's best interests, but persist and you'll uncover a truly special world.
Poignant and moving in both theme and execution, Fe is one of the most unique platformers on Nintendo Switch. Its platforming can be a little hit and miss, and its stealth feels a little too forgiving at times, but that doesn't stop its world and the unique vocal premise from bewitching you with a dark and Gothic Nordic fairytale. While it's not as groundbreaking as other dialogue-less games such as Journey, it's still one of the most intriguing worlds to explore on Switch, and proof Zoink Games is more than just a one joke pony.
Zoink Games' Fe may be occasionally rough around the edges and gameplay derivative, but failure to look beyond that is missing the forest for the trees. The exquisite audio direction and artstyle help build on a world to create mystique across the board. Even better, a hands-off approach to gameplay allows those willing to invest the time an avenue to organically explore and fix the broken world left behind.
With FE, Zoink Games proves that it have the trust of Electronic Arts with a 3D platform with a different and visually stunning artistic design.

Fe is an enchanting game featuring dazzling artistic quality of the graphics, which is arguably its main thrust. The gameplay is not as impressive, but it is efficient and diverse enough to keep you entertained for a few hours.

Like Unravel before it, Fe is another triumph for the EA Originals program as Zoink don't hesitate to flex their creative muscle. Despite a few foibles, the core mechanics are sound enough. Though it's in its world-building and artistic direction that Fe truly shines, with a spacious map that sparks the kindling of exploration and ignites that love for adventure.
Fe is a wonderful experience that asks you to think a bit, while also entertaining you with a silent story and majestic moments that are Journey-esque. The gameplay for Fe is well designed, fits the bill for what is going on and does its best to make sure you're entertained and challenged.
Fe is a charming adventure game that succeeds at world building but there are some aspects of its game design that can also make it a frustrating experience.
Fe is an emotional journey, a 3D platform/adventure that will make you discover many amazing places in order to free an ancient forest from the evil Silents. While the first part of the game can be frustrating due to the lack of hints and advices from the developers, once you'll get over the sense of confusion you will find in Fe a great adventure with some epic moments that you don't want to miss, no matter what.

Fe has everything that you expect from a game like this: great atmosphere, beautiful environments, unusual design decisions. It's unfortunate that developers decided to approach a refreshing theme without a meaningful story.

It’s currently £11.69 on Nintendo Switch (a bargain in my humble opinion) £17.99 on the EA store and around £15.99 for Xbox One. I would say selling it at £18 is asking a little too much for a game that has around 6 hours of gameplay if you don’t stop to smell the flowers. £14.99 would be slightly better – with £10 being the best.
"Fe" proves to be an entertaining experience with a lovingly staged world and a unique story. Especially the narrative style and the renunciation of fighting sequences predestine the title for different age groups. The play with colours as well as the dreamy sounds let the flora and fauna appear in an almost abstract light. However, the title as a whole lacks some dynamism and variety. Friends of The Journey, Unravel and Rime make a worthwhile purchase with "Fe" and should embark on an impressive journey with the little fox.

Fe is unlike anything that I have played in a long while, rekindling memories of the games from which it has openly drawn inspiration. As brave a creation as it is emotive, it’s an experience that I won’t soon forget and a world that I will forever long to explore once more.
Despite its beautiful art style, Fe lacks of game mechanics and content that can make a difference between it and some other indie games on the market.

Despite its magical atmosphere, Fe does not manage to leave a lasting impression.

Overall, Fe is a feast for the eyes and ears that, for the most part, also delivers a gentle and enjoyable gameplay experience. Interaction with the other forest creatures is always has a bit of a magical feel and in general it is surprising how many secrets are hidden in the space. If you’re down to just enjoy the ride and not rush to the end there’s quite a bit more to like, though more hard core gamers are likely to find it disappointing for its missed opportunities.
Fe is an another sucessful EA Originals title, although Unravel was a bit better. Fe suffers from minor issues and basically brings nothing new to the table, but it's still a title that deserves attention. Especially if you like adventure games with a touch of mystery.

Fe isn’t spurred on by an easy to follow narrative but instead by a moving soundtrack that orchestrates your journey through a quaint world with the help of some pleasant platforming elements that are carefully weaved into this all-round lovely game. Zoink have conceived a setting which can only be compared to a mood ring in both colour and emotion alike, full of mystery and a delight to explore. They want you to halt your journey, look around, truly indulge in their handiwork and let out a satisfied sigh. As you interact with nature within the game, you gradually ignite a fire of need within you to protect it. Moreover, subliminal eco-friendly morals resonate whilst you play, leading you to care and truly become emerged in this ingenious world and the creatures that roam within it. Similar to likes of Journey and Abzu, Fe achieves a moving and memorable gaming experience by generating a magical, highly immersive environment that accounts for each and every emotional arc within the game. A touching tale and completely captivating title.
Fe is a beautifully ethereal game that, despite its flaws with plot comprehension and spatial organization, is a pleasure to play. If you're fine with wandering, and don't mind the feeling of being swept along on a journey rather than pioneering the journey yourself, then the weak points of this game will seem a lot less weak.
