Like any good walking simulator, The Invincible thrives on its story. Even though it feels similar to what the book already touches on, the differences are enough to make the game feel new and somewhat fresh, considering how many people may be approaching the game without prior knowledge of the novel. The decision to go with a walking simulator works as far as being able to effectively deliver the story, and it pays off with a gripping narrative, but some of the dialogue sections can run longer than expected. If you can live with some of the bugs that still need ironing out, you'll find this to be a fascinating experience that's well worth checking out if you're a genre fan.

The Invincible is a beautiful visual representation of the novel of the same name written by Stanislaw Lem decades ago. You are immersed in the world through game mechanics and design that allow you to interact in unique ways. Unfortunately, the game still suffers from performance and technical issues that should have already been addressed in the time since the game launched.

The Invincible is a true old school science-fiction with an emphasis on science rather than some personal drama. It's a great experience with a perfect sense of style, just beware that the game part is lacking or rather almost non-existent.

The Invincible is that simple game, released in a period (and year) of several AAA games that takes the player on a very pleasant experience both for their pockets and for those looking to take a break from blockbuster releases. The Invincible isn't for everyone, but everyone should try it.

The Invincible is a beautiful, mesmerising and contemplative adventure that fans of retrofuturism and hard sci fi wont want to miss.

The Invincible is not for everyone. You simply have to like the quiet narrative style, the setting and the lack of real gameplay to appreciate the enjoyment behind it. But if you can take your time and are not opposed to retro sci-fi and walking simulators, you will get an incredibly beautifully crafted world with great voice actors and probably the best playable adaptation of a book in a long time.

When I started The Invincible and saw the title screen with the note that the game is based on Stanislaw Lem’s iconic novel, I knew I was in for something unique. I was not disappointed. The Invincible is easily one of the best sci-fi games I’ve played in recent years. It’s engaging, thought-provoking, and beautiful. It’s the type of game that makes you take note of the studio enough to consider preordering their next game sight unseen.

While the hard sci-fi story is consistently interesting, the slow pace of The Invincible may be frustrating for some.

Overall, The Invincible likely isn’t going to be a late contender for GOTY 2023, but there is serious value in playing through it. This game is certainly far more worth the $30 price tag than something like Stray Souls. Also, if you are looking for a break from the constant fast pace of something like Spider-Man 2, then The Invincible may just be exactly what you are after.

The Invincible offers up plenty of sci-fi intrigue, but even as a fan of walking simulators, the gameplay just falls too short of the mark. I still enjoyed my time on Regis III, but there were definitely ways to improve the experience.

If you like walking simulators and deep stories, this game is right up your alley. The atmosphere and the visual style will engulf you completely, making it feel natural to ponder the philosophical questions raised by your trek through Regis III.

The Invincible lacks imagination in its gameplay, which is pretty much walking in a straight line, and fails to capture any potentially interesting mechanics. However, The Invincible‘s compelling narrative, strong themes, and great characters make this an experience well worth playing. If you are a fan of science fiction, this is a must-play, assuming you can get past the lacklustre gameplay.

The interactive treatment of Stanis'aw Lem's literary work brings exactly what we expected. It also holds up as a game, it's a walking simulator with an excellent story and an impressive atmosphere.

The Invincible has a strong narrative and treats its source with respect and imagination. Pair that with a beautiful world and you should have a classic. The only things holding The Invincible at arm’s length from greatness are some dated-feeling controls and pacing that drags more than once. The Invincible is a convincing homage to a popular novel but slightly less convincing as a game.

The Invincible is an apt, narrative-focused piece of science fiction. Avoid entrenched gameplay expectations as this "walking sim" aims to extend a curious, eerie hand, offering players a tense journey of alien discovery meant to be slowly absorbed.
