For Honor Reviews
Despite its few rather minor flaws, For Honor provides a new experience for both experienced gamers and those new to the genre. With exceptional graphics and mostly-superior audio quality wedded to an immersive and dynamic gameplay experience, Ubisoft Montreal’s recent fighting game with hack-and-slash elements grants hours of addictive virtual warfare. Whether looking to sit back and relax with a few friends or play it solo, For Honor is a bloody and thrilling addition to Ubisoft’s repertoire.
As it is, this is a game with a disposable single-player campaign, multiplayer matches that crash or disconnect as often as they complete, and a slew of fantastic mechanics that only rise to the surface in a single game mode out of a half-dozen.
The game as it stands is not worth the money or frustration of sitting in a matchmaking queue again and again and again, only to have error messages pop up.
I truly love the underlying combat mechanics, but what really lets For Honor down is its gear system, which can grant players enormous benefits on the battlefield (especially those willing to spend cash on microtransactions). A subpar matchmaking system in these gear-enabled modes doesn’t help.
For Honor takes some risks and creates a new property that I'd love to see more of in the future. Unfortunately, there is this impression that perhaps Ubisoft was not entirely confident in this first outing. The online modes are fun enough, but they can get grindy and their lack of depth begins to show after a time. This when coupled with the lack of dedicated servers leaves For Honor feeling somewhat incomplete, despite some beautiful environments and engaging combat.
For Honor delivers accurate and unique gameplay, unlimited upgrade options for every character, variety in levels design and a multiplayer mode that depends on cooperation with teammates more than playing solo. However, the game suffers from a weak and disappointing story mode, overpowered abilities that some characters have, limited game modes, pay-to-win microtransactions, and various connection issues.

In short, For Honor is bloated in a way it doesn't need to be, but in a way that's completely unsurprising for Ubisoft. A ton of cosmetic upgrades and progression rankings can't save it from being an ultimately narrow experience. It may not wholly satisfy anyone craving an enormous single-player campaign or competitive multiplayer, but if you want a surprisingly competent fighting game that's capable of offering some great, tense and skill-based encounters, For Honor has enough to offer. Ubisoft may have marketed the game as a big, broad battler, but in truth it's just about you and your opponent and that's where it is at its best.
'For Honor's dueling is focused and fun, but the best stuff is overshadowed by many smaller problems.
For Honor's tactical, forceful swordplay is extremely well-executed, especially for a first attempt. It's just a shame it's attached to so many distractions, including a bewildering story mode.
For Honor feels like a Free-to-play title that deliberately was turned into a retail product, but kept the elements of a Pay-to-win system. Unfortunately, except for graphics and animations, the single-player mode cannot offer pleasant revelations and the multiplayer mode, instead of beautiful battles, reminds only white trash street fights. The problem with an imbalance of characters in duels makes the situation even worse, but we hope that most errors will be fixed with future updates. If this happens, you can give the game a chance, but for now we recommend postponing the purchase or waiting for discounts to devote time to other more worthy projects.

It’s a silly phrase to say because it doesn’t make much sense, but I really was hoping to like For Honor more than I actually did. Everything leading up to the release of the game looked very promising, but after seeing it firsthand and spending time with it, I found myself a lot more bored than I anticipated. The single player experience is basically non-existent, with the campaign being finished in a mere couple hours. Multiplayer is the meat and potatoes, and if that just isn’t your thing, I’d recommend holding off on it for now. But, if the thrill of one on one duels and the nature of the combat sound appealing, you’ll find more than enough to satisfy here.
For Honor has the best, most innovative and rewarding combat system we have seen in years. However, the whole experience is crippled by poorly designed game modes and progression schemes; a broken matchmaking system and online instability. It's best to avoid it for now and wait a few months until the developer can fix its problems.

At its core, For Honor is a stunningly great game with exhilarating combat the likes of which are hardly seen. But it’s crippled by online issues that reduce its core multiplayer to a frustrating mess.
Despite its blemishes, For Honor definitely boasts the most visceral multiplayer experience we’ve seen in a long time as its set to be a trailblazer in the realm of competitive gaming if Ubisoft wants it to be.
In conclusion multiplayer at its core is good but some serious overhauls are needed to be made, especially in regards to the Faction war, matchmaking and game modes. The story aspect of the game is fantastic, it is both engaging and fun to play, with lots of colourful characters to meet along the way.
In typical Ubisoft fashion, For Honor has received some significant hype over the past year or so. Set in a fictional world full of strife and chaos, choose your Hero from the noble Samurai, the relentless Vikings, or the bloodthirsty Knights and represent your faction in a war for dominance. Whether you are in the captivatingly beautiful wilderness or the majestic ruins of civilization, your Hero will stand as a bulwark against the oncoming threat of annihilation. With an interesting twist on the action-fighting platform, For Honor uses an innovative control system called "The Art of Battle" that provides full control over your choice of one of twelve heroes. Stab, parry, and block your way through the fight control. For all of the interesting new fight mechanics, focus on faction-specific persistent PVP world, For Honor is both new and exciting while feeling, at times, incredibly frustrating and empty.
Although the combat is extremely enjoyable, For Honor lacks focus and tends to rely on giving players too much advantage in most type of matches instead of a proper learning curve.

For Honor is one of the newest and of course one of the most interesting experiences at the current time, a game that'd easily claim to have the strongest and the most realistic Melee-weapon based combat system but sadly, the issues that we were hoping to be resolved by the time the final version was released were not yet fixed and at this time, it'd much better for you to wait for the updates in order to have a much more fixed and solid experience either from the game or from the servers because as you see, For Honor has completely the potential to entertain you with it's massive battles for hours.
