A good olympic expansion that makes the base game a bit more serious than the past. Steep is now a one of the richest extreme sports game of the last decade, but be careful: the amount of contents could overwhelm you!

Road to Olympics is a sincere, passionate and compelling love letter to the Olympic spirt. It's not a proper game about Pyeongchang Winter Games but rather a Steep-style take on them, with a fresh and intense game campaign, an amazing new mountain to explore and a lot of challenges to take. If you loved Steep, you'll love this expansion even more.

Steep: Road to the Olympics does not quite represent the magnitude of an Olympic event like the Pyeongchang Winter Games 2018, but still includes some pretty fun additions to the Steep formula.

Road to the Olympics is an expansion that tries to make a different cut compared to the original game: more linear, more simulative and more challenging.

Steep: Road to the Olympics brings enough to the table for the price and should tide fans over until the next snowboarding title. The expansion is a solid little Christmas stocking filler for people needing a taste of the iconic Winter Games, without the real dangers and costs.

Even with the structure of the Olympic events being lacking, there's still more than enough content here to justify the asking price. The Become a Legend campaign will take a few hours to get through, then there are all the traditional Steep-styled challenges, Mountain Stories, and the like that take place in the new Japanese and South Korean mountains. There's certainly plenty to do in Road to the Olympics, and that's before you even consider the number of times you'll find yourself perched at the starting gates on the downhill course, getting ready to try to beat your best time just for yucks.

The Olympics finally got a solid video game. Albeit "Road to Olympics" is just a DLC to Steep, it fits perfectly and I have to give the game credit when the credit is due, especially for the pleasant Story mode.

Steep's Road to the Olympics expansion features a disappointing story mode, but it has just enough other content to make it still worthwhile.

What it comes down to is: Do you like Steep? If you haven't played Steep and you're intrigued by Road to the Olympics because you're a fan of the winter games or whatever the case is, definitely read our review of the base game first. It's not going to be for everyone.

For those who jump into it feet first it's easily worth the price. Being able to hurtle down yet more mountains with all the available disciplines equates to huge amounts of fun, and there's nothing else quite like it available. This is an expansion in the traditional sense, and while its self-contained story is little more than a diversion, it's got a lot more going for it.

Steep: Road to the Olympics’ intention are great by base, but it’s the very limited amount of content that is its biggest issue. At least, it was a good way for me to find out how much changed since the original launch game.

This is a very large DLC, with lots of content, recommended to all those who loved Steep. The excellent support of Ubisoft Annecy has allowed Steep to be much more enjoyable, thanks to a series of improvements that have allowed us to overcome issues related to the basic product.

A fun addition to Steep, with plenty new events and slopes providing a nice change of pace to the base game. Yet if Steep annoyed you because of its buggy nature, then it probably won't win you back over.

The freestyle events play to the title's gameplay core, but the other Olympic events aren't a fundamental part of the experience. The Become a Legend mode is more of a long, drawn-out tutorial than a career mode

Games like this need a good soundtrack – Steep only partially delivers on that.

All in all, Steep: Road to the Olympics doesn't do much to upset the formula. There are tweaks and refinements, but at its core, this is the same uniquely playable game that delivers something nothing else quite manages. If the prospect of doing it all over again on a staggeringly beautiful new Japanese mountain appeals, then step up to the podium.

Road to the Olympics may not be a complete Winter Olympics game due to limited number of sports, but it surely is a great Ski and Skateboarding game that will keep the fans of the genre busy for many hours.

While not an actual representation of the Olympic Winter games, Road to the Olympics new races are an interesting addition that fits very well with the core mechanics of the game. The contents of Steep have proven to be expanded positively over the course of a year, resulting in the best time to give it a try.
