Some of the best content is in fact free, meaning that even if you're done spending money on Starlink, it is worth taking the time to revisit it for this update. If you're hankering for more Star Fox adventures (no pun intended), then take that extra step and call in the team. Ultimately, it serves as an unexpected but welcome send off to a game that sadly ended too soon. For the faithful, attach that giant plastic Arwing to your Joy-Con one last time, and head back into Atlas.

Ubisoft's first venture into toys-to-life games is surprisingly good.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas is a surprise hit for Nintendo Switch. Furthermore, embedding Star Fox in was a masterstroke. From a surprisingly good score and audio cues from characters, to stunning vistas and scenery, there are many positives to be had. There will be many who appreciate the large number of tasks to do, but others will be deterred by the repetitiveness of them, although these are largely optional. The main issue is essentially asking what point of sale is the best value for money as no option is cheap. In fact, to enjoy all of Starlink's content can be a costly affair but even jumping in with the Standard edition or Starter pack is still £20 more than other AAA titles. Unfortunately, these barriers to entry can ruin the enjoyment for those who opt for lesser packages.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas is a fun game that, bluntly, delivers intense space battles and exploration of fun and curious worlds. Its difficulty could be a little higher and the variety of villains more diverse, but this is not a demerit at all.

Starlink: Battle For Atlas is a worthy contender of surprise game of the year and in a good way. It offers gorgeous visuals, high-quality cutscenes for the story, and it is easily the best Star Fox game in a long time.

A fun game which looks and plays really well, but suffers from a repetitive structure and a mediocre story.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas can become a good starting point for a new franchise with a toys-to-life concept done the right way. Sadly, its repetitive nature lacks the ingredients to keep you hooked.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas is not just a simple arcade title, as many would have thought; and while the potentials of this genre might be limited, Starlink still has a lot to offer including great combat, wonderful space atmosphere and endless discoveries.

With a gorgeous visual design – even on Nintendo Switch, it's a striking-looking game – an enjoyable gameplay loop, fantastic audio design, and a lively cast of characters, there's plenty to like in Starlink: Battle for Atlas. It's a game I can see myself coming back to for a long time yet.

While the overarching plot isn't exactly high drama and the gameplay can feel limited by artificial busywork, Starlink: Battle For Atlas is the kind of game I've been craving for a while.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas has moments of exciting combat, neat customization, and some engaging mechanics. However, this new intergalactic action adventure suffers an engine misfire due to a ton of repetition, occasionally awkward controls, and a lackluster story.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas is Ubisoft's new attempt to make a galactic war-type game and it's fun, entertaining and joyful. Also the toy-to-life experience is something new and unique. Though the missions can become repetitive at times, but the level design and addictive gameplay make up for it. In the end, The whole package is a beautiful and fun game that absolutely worth your time and money. So be ready and go for saving Atlas with Ubisoft's Spaceship!

Once you put aside Starlink's somewhat confused nature and design, what you're left with is a genuinely enjoyable open space adventure.

Starlink: The Battle for Atlas is a solid and very enjoyable space-fighter themed take on Ubisoft's traditional open-world formula. It has a good amount of content and is a genuinely fun experience. The only thing dragging it down is the vestigial toy system, which works against the rest of the gameplay. Fortunately, the digital version of the game allows you to entirely side-step that trouble and contains enough content at the regular retail price to make it worthwhile. It's a good purchase for kids, and some adults (especially Star Fox fans) will find a fair bit to like here.

Ubisoft's StarLink Battle for Atlas is a brave, half-successful attempt to bring the "Toys to Life" back to life. The Ubisoft Toronto product gives life to a well-kept sci-fi universe with a fine design, accompanied by an appreciable soundtrack and a deep and fun gameplay. The plastic models that the company offers for its video game are well made and far from low quality, they have also convinced us for variety and originality. The real Achilles heel of the product is the excessive repetitiveness, which can already be felt in the medium term.

Starlink Battle for Atlas is a cool game which adults and younger gamers can enjoy in equal measure. The toy aspect is awesome but not compulsory which is plus point – especially given the cost of extra parts. The core game whilst repetitive in some respects, has enough charms to keep players entertained for many hours. The game has seen a lot of love obviously making for a wonderful space shooter. Great visuals, excellent designs and unrestrained freedom makes for a welcome game. The core target audience should lap this up especially if toys come as part of the deal.

With a forgettable Story but a strong team or characters, Starlink: Battle for Atlas is an interesting experience with good mechanics and a different approach to the “toys to life” that made games like Skylanders and Disney Infinity popular on PS3 and Xbox 360.
