Fury Unleashed Reviews
Though it doesn't reinvent the rogeulike genre, Fury Unleashed makes a name for itself through its comic book style and action-heavy combo system that relies on agile shooting and swift thinking.
If a fan of over-the top action, Fury Unleashed is an easy recommendation.
Kudos to Awesome Games Studios for spending the 5 years of development on Fury Unleashed because it shows in the fluidity of gameplay. I really wish there was even more content to be had but with the effective procedural randomness and high difficulty I keep coming back for more.
Apart from some at times tiny writing on the Switch handheld, Fury Unleashed looks sublime, has riffage for days, and represents an excellent run and gun wormhole to disappear down.
The core mechanics of running and gunning while maintaining a high combo multiplier is satisfying, and taps into a primitive reptilian part of our brain. You feel eager to maintain the flow and the speed in which you move and range of abilities you get to kill, perfectly compliments the violent and irreverent tone.
Fury Unleashed is a fantastic distraction title that may have released in the right real-world window while we all struggle with the staying at home setup of 2020. It’s also an easy game to just pick up and play with mechanics easy enough to master, but packed with a layer of challenge that is subtle and rewarding.
Fury Unleashed takes the central gameplay loops of the likes of Dead Cells and Enter the Gungeon and infuses them with pulpy '90s action platforming resulting in one of the best roguelites currently available on Nintendo Switch.
With only a couple small issues Fury Unleashed proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable gaming experience.
Fury Unleashed is a hilarious arcade game that will remind us of the already legendary arcade games but has also been able to adapt perfectly to the times, offering us a round title with great quality to enjoy alone or in company.

Its biggest problem then is that it's over all too quickly. Of course, rogue-lites are designed to be replayed over and over again. However, with just four comic books to work through, you'll see everything Fury Unleashed has to offer much quicker than you might expect.
With a comic book-inspired look, a pretty wide array of over-the-top weapons, and challenges aplenty Fury Unleashed is a roguelike platform shooter with plenty of personality...
Fury Unleashed doesn’t hold your attention for very long. This is a good thing. This isn’t the kind of game you play for days on end, perfecting your run. Rather, this is something to come back to every once in a while, when you’ve got a few minutes to kill.
Fury Unleashed is one of the best indie games of 2020, and one of the most excellent examples of the roguelite genre this generation. While it may be on the short side, this action co-op title should satisfy fans of Metal Slug and then some. Cool comic-inspired visuals, an inspiring story, and compelling moment-to-moment gameplay make this a stellar shooter.
It took five years for Fury Unleashed to find its voice, but the wait was worth it.
You know when I first saw the picture for Fury Unleashed I kinda expected this to be yet another junk food gaming rogue-lite. Some thing that I’m totally on board with. But after playing it several times and having weird nightmares about Aztec skeletons, this has easily jumped to one of my favourites in the genre. I loved the surprise heart to the story, as someone that often questions their own written work and creativity I found something to connect to; though I’ll probably never reach the heights of fame in my creative work. It’s good that video games like Fury Unleashed can remind you that moments of uncertainly are normal. And right now in this moment you are enough. Also Fury Unleashed is just brilliant.
Fury Unleashed offers a brutal and action-orientated romp that’s a blast to play both solo or with a friend, with the destructive gunplay and over-the-top showdowns with enemies proving to be mighty satisfying throughout. Admittedly, the tricky difficulty can be a bit off-putting early on, but there’s a rewarding sense of progress to the experience as you earn more skills and gear. Fury Unleashed is simply a really fun game to play and one that’s easy to recommend to all old-school action-packed shooting fans.
On the other end of the scale are those who would not touch games like Dead Cells despite its gorgeous visuals. Those will consider Fury Unleashed a waste of time and not even the easier game mode might convince them otherwise. This mode is ideal for streamers as presented by the producers themselves, allowing them to focus not just on the game, but their audience as well. And this solution is brilliant since watching it played by someone who mastered the game mechanics, can make Fury Unleashed more fun than actually playing it.
Fury Unleashed is endlessly replayable and enormously satisfying with its appetising composition of big guns, big challenge, and even bigger rewards.
An awesome, compelling but repetitive rogue-lite shoot 'em up with a lot of enemies to kill, and a comic-style story to discover, game after game.

Roguelikes rarely feel as rewarding and enjoyable as Fury Unleashed and the fact that you can play it with a friend is a nice bonus.
