Jump Force, released in February to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Shonen Jump manga, brings together many recognizable anime characters. Though it is a good effort to commemorate 50 years of one of the most iconic manga magazines, its awkward control scheme, poor hub-world design, and subpar story leaves much to be desired.

For a game with such potential Jump Force is a colossal blunder and a rushed mess. The visuals and art style is atrocious, the gameplay lacks any kind of depth, and the animations are horrific. Overall Jump Force is a huge disappointment.

Shounen Jump created this game in celebration of their 50th year anniversary and many of us were definitely at least interested in it and some couldn't help but be overly excited over it. The theory and potential were definitely there, I just don't know what happened to the execution, delivery, and passion though. For all we know it could be hidden in Kakashi's mouth if we're lucky. Jump Force is not a bad game, nor was it a good game, but definitely a disappointing game in my opinion.

Jump Force is a beautiful mess of a fighting game, its huge roster and delightful gameplay surrounded by unnecessary structure and single player.

Jump Force's gameplay is spectacular and amazing, but too many technical issues get in the way, ruining part of the fun.

Jump Force features a massive cast of characters but its gameplay is definitely flashier than deep which makes it eventually become incredibly monotonous and tough to enjoy.

Like the Dissidia series, Jump Force is something I'm going to be coming back to for random bits of fun throughout the years. The core is good, it's just let down by some odd design choices and an average campaign. This is an older brawler in an HD skin: if you want something more than that, look elsewhere.

Announced as one of Bandai Namco's biggest titles, Jump Force turns out to be another unloving anime adaptation that does not even match all of its unique characters. The great animations in the fight can hardly compensate for the weak plot and bad presentation. Thus, the alleged games highlight turns out to be an entertaining fun for all fans, but over a longer period of time does not know how to motivate.

What this game is really about is fan service and I must admit that it succeeds in offering folks up a hefty chunk in that department. Jump Force knows that it’s really for the Shonen Jump fans and if you are a fan there’s plenty to like here. One would probably be better off focusing on the core fighting game aspects though.

The fighting itself can still be a fun and mad scramble that’s easily accessible for anyone looking to fast-track to Super Saiyan levels, and there’s definitely an appeal to creating your own avatar to join those ranks. Yet, if you want a faithful anime fighter that both beginners and experts can get stuck into, Dragon Ball FighterZ already delivered that last year. With all the potential here for celebrating 50 years of Shonen Jump, sadly at this point it seems that fans pining for a truly great anime crossover fighting game may just have to cross their fingers that Goku comes to Smash.

If you're looking for competitive fighting games, then Jump Force isn't for you. But if Anime series has a special place in your heart, you may enjoy it despite its quirks. Though its pretty limited at what it does.

Jump Force has major problems, but it can actually be really fun. It feels tedious when playing missions, and repetitive at times in combat. But using your favourite characters' abilities in battle remains fun throughout. It's going to be an acquired taste, but anime fans will actually find a lot to enjoy here. Just stick to the online play, where you can remain blissfully ignorant of the awful cutscenes and animation.

Crossover games are nothing new to Bandai Namco or Shonen Jump, so it surprises and disappoints me to see that none of the good aspects or successful mechanics of these previous games made their way into Jump Force at all. Jump Force is a visual mess, It lacks the fun and charm that a wild crossover like this should embrace, and It's just a technical mess from top to bottom. Jump Force is a huge celebration of some of the most iconic manga in history, but it fails to do any of them justice.

An uncomplicated concession for fans of several generations to come together in a game that is more fun than competitive. The confluence of so many universes in which at the moment is the definitive crossover of the Shonen.

There isn't much nice to be said about Jump Force. Other than being a crossover title with some pretty special moves, there isn't anything to applaud here. The fighting is repetitive and dull, the infrastructure is more annoying than entertaining, and it's a gigantic disappointment from start to finish. Not only do the franchises represented deserve better than this, but it's an awful way to celebrate the manga giant's 50th anniversary.

If it wasn’t for Jump Force‘s highly entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable combat, the game would be a disaster. But Jump Force is a fighting game, and so everything about it that’s turgid and unnecessary can largely be avoided or overlooked.
