For a game with such potential Jump Force is a colossal blunder and a rushed mess. The visuals and art style is atrocious, the gameplay lacks any kind of depth, and the animations are horrific. Overall Jump Force is a huge disappointment.

Jump Force brings together some of Mangas biggest and best characters and instead of making you feel powerful leaves you fighting bad gameplay, an aggravating plot, and your own patience. Even big Shonen Jump fans may want to avoid this one...

I was really hopeful in the lead up to Jump Force, because I love most of these characters, and the set dressing for the concept is often very cool. The visual style was even something I thought I was getting used to as the character reveals rolled in. But once the game was in my hands, reality struck me like a Detroit Smash and what I had before me was a mess. Jump Force is ugly, janky, confusing, and far too simple. It does what other games have already done before, but with far less confidence or success. It tries to hide its misgivings behind cool special moves and motion blur, but fails at that too. It's a total swing and miss, but hopefully just a bump in the road for Shonen Jump games in the long run.

Crossover games are nothing new to Bandai Namco or Shonen Jump, so it surprises and disappoints me to see that none of the good aspects or successful mechanics of these previous games made their way into Jump Force at all. Jump Force is a visual mess, It lacks the fun and charm that a wild crossover like this should embrace, and It's just a technical mess from top to bottom. Jump Force is a huge celebration of some of the most iconic manga in history, but it fails to do any of them justice.

There isn't much nice to be said about Jump Force. Other than being a crossover title with some pretty special moves, there isn't anything to applaud here. The fighting is repetitive and dull, the infrastructure is more annoying than entertaining, and it's a gigantic disappointment from start to finish. Not only do the franchises represented deserve better than this, but it's an awful way to celebrate the manga giant's 50th anniversary.

It does not claim to be the best fighting game in the multiverse and it certainly is not. But it is a spectacular combination of simplicity, spectacle, tiredness and a lot of wrong gameplay mechanics outside of battle.

While not entirely disappointing for the $60, there’s simply too many problems here and there that I can give this game more than an “okay”, and a “maybe” if you’re a fan of the characters in the game. They have a lot of characters coming as DLC and that means a lot of opportunities to push even more patches out, so hopefully, one day we’ll get a game I could say is “fantastic”. I felt no desire to jump nor use force while playing.

Jump Force isn’t a game worth playing unless it meets two criteria: you’re really into all of its anime representations and you can find it quite cheap. At $60, Jump Force is a horrid interpretation of the anime industry’s signature publisher.

Jump Force is best enjoyed by separating it from the story entirely. It isn’t worth your time to invest in this half-baked storyline with its soulless characters and poor plot.

While the core gameplay and ideas presented probably wouldn't feel at home regardless, the Switch version really shouldn't be the way to experience this game. If you are looking for a portable version of Jump Force I'd recommend putting some manga in your backpack. It will probably last you longer.

After playing JUMP FORCE, I can't shake the feeling that it looks unfinished and/or rushed. At first, it looks fun and the problems look forgivable; but the more you dig deep into it, the more you can see how severely flawed it is. JUMP FORCE is unpolished, unimpressive, repetitive and definitely not a good game to celebrate Weekly Shonen Jump's 50th anniversary with it.

Jump Force doesn't even come close to the standard of quality that Shonen Jump fans would expect. Its many missteps, from the creepy visuals to basic design shortcomings tarnishes the experience at every turn. This one should be avoided at all costs.

A crossover between the world's most famous manga characters results in a peculiarly underdeveloped fighter, with an especially disappointing story mode.

Jump Force, released in February to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Shonen Jump manga, brings together many recognizable anime characters. Though it is a good effort to commemorate 50 years of one of the most iconic manga magazines, its awkward control scheme, poor hub-world design, and subpar story leaves much to be desired.

Jump Force is a mess of a game. It boosts a strong cast of characters and has decent fighting mechanics. The game is just isn't up to par when it comes down to the loading times, framerate and animations.

Jump Force delivers a decent brawling experience that is hampered by so many issues that drag the game’s pace to a crawl and even fans will find it hard to overlook the design choices and countless visual glitches that lead to a game that may be rather fun at its core but little more than that.

Generally, I think that Jump Force is a reasonably good fighting game, with a terrible story and too high price. I do feel like fans of the anime involved will appreciate the game much more than others. A lot of care has been taken to transfer the characters from anime format into the game and keep them as they are meant to be. It is also quite fun to see characters from different series talking to each other which you can only really experience in a crossover event.

Being able to use unorthodox characters like Yami from Yu-Gi-Oh! is certainly quite unique, but Jump Force’s barren world barely takes advantage of these opportunities due to lacking gameplay and what feels like too much of a ripoff of Dragon Ball Xenoverse without bringing anything refreshing to the table.

What should have been a glorious celebration of Weekly Shōnen Jump lands up just being a largely mediocre experience. Jump Force has its opportunities to shine but it never gets to carry those through. We're left with a game that has some enjoyable combat but is marred by some other design choices. If the game is about the clashing of various Jump universes clashing, they should have probably set it in the universe where Jump Force gets to shine.

Shounen Jump created this game in celebration of their 50th year anniversary and many of us were definitely at least interested in it and some couldn't help but be overly excited over it. The theory and potential were definitely there, I just don't know what happened to the execution, delivery, and passion though. For all we know it could be hidden in Kakashi's mouth if we're lucky. Jump Force is not a bad game, nor was it a good game, but definitely a disappointing game in my opinion.
