Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Reviews
Ultimately this is a game that should cheer most up, even from the dullest of moods, and possibly make them feel a bit tingly in the process – due to the near saccharin levels of sheer cuteness on screen at all times. You could almost call it the video game equivalent of an ASMR video – but a lot less creepy and weird.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a game I never thought I'd see on the 3DS, and I could never have imagined it being ported so smoothly. With no compromise to the gameplay experience, this is Captain Toad. On the 3DS. If you want wonderful puzzles, colourful and diverse environments, replayability, and challenge. If you're ready for an adventure I would call timeless, you are ready for Captain Toad.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is an absolute joy to behold, from its cute visual styling and delicious soundtrack and audio utterances from the main characters, to the expertly crafted self-contained stages, jam-packed with smart puzzles to solve and a plethora of goodies to uncover. This was one of those Wii U gems that thoroughly deserved another shot at the limelight, and with its excellent new additions now, it is indeed time to shine bright.
If you're a fan of puzzle/platformer games, then Captain Toad on Switch comes highly recommended. Recruit a friend for even more fun. Just makes sure they're ready for an adventure!
Here's why a risky idea for a game was actually a great idea with a wonderful execution.
If anything, the release of Captain Toad goes to show just how confident Nintendo is, and more so with how much it understands its audience. In a blockbuster season filled with plenty of firearms and fistfights, Captain Toad shows us more creativity and style than many new IPs out there.
If you manage to track down this game, you'll have a real treasure on your hands.
Four years after its original release, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker to remind us why it is one of the best puzzle platformers on the market. The Super Mario Odyssey levels, the resolution bump on TV mode and the coop experience may not be enough to buy it again, but its clever level design and original concept make it a game that Nintendo fans can't afford to miss.

Everything has been improved upon since his adventures in Super Mario 3D World. The game pad does distract from the beauty of the main screen, however it's a worthwhile tradeoff as the new abilities and level types that take advantage of it are a joy to use, it's just a shame about the inability to turn off gyroscopic camera controls for those that don't use them. Regardless, Captain Toad's first solo outing is as golden as the treasure he tracks.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is the perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch
Treasure Tracker still feels close to unique, and gains new life on both of Nintendo's current systems. Switch is very much the better choice, but 3DS is by no means a bad option. Still smart, prettier than ever and, in retrospect, genuinely important as part of Nintendo's modern history, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a rare example of a game that actually feels better for being a few years old.
With addictive 3D puzzles that will certainly challenge the long time Mario fan and bright, colourful graphics and cute characters that will surely appeal to the young ones, there's something to offer for all audiences.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a great first starring role for everyone's favourite all around fun guy.
For anybody else, Captain Toad's weird little experiment would be an afterthought. But Nintendo's exercise in digging has found something pretty special - an action puzzle game that succeeds on charm and smarts, rather than reflexes and spectacle.
This is the same game we enjoyed four years ago in Wii U. A perfect mix between puzzles and platforms, which includes four new Super Mario Odyssey inspired levels and a new (pretty basic) coop mode.

Strap on your spelunking light and head into adventure with Captain Toad, you won't regret it.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker most reminds me of the old Game Boy version of Donkey Kong (often called Donkey Kong '94). Both are spinoffs of other games that focus on small stages where you need to get to the end while collecting tough-to-get items.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a fun puzzle-platformer with a huge amount of polish. The camera angles can sometimes get in the way of its greatness, but Toad's first solo adventure is absolutely a memorable one.
