Minecraft: Story Mode - Season Two, Episode Three Reviews
Minecraft: Story Mode season 2 is shaping up to be a really strong adventure. Aside from a few painful combat sections that dragged on too long this episode, the story is starting to get serious now, and I'm certainly looking forward to see where the last two episodes take us.
Jailhouse Block is an action packed episode with some great humour and exciting set-pieces.
A tightly controlled and intriguing story mix with some of the best action sequences of the season to create a real turning point for the series. If Telltale can keep it up we're in for a real treat by the end of Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2.
While comparable to episode two, episode three of Minecraft: Story Mode is hampered by its technical problems. The audio issues could be forgiven, but its absentmindedness towards the player's choices completely undermines the core conceit of the experience. Thankfully, its isolated nature means it could be a one-off thing. Considering how enjoyable everything else is, it would be a shame if this episode marked the start of a downhill slope for the series.
I'm not too interested in where they're taking this as it all seems predictable and hopefully some random cards come into play for these final two upcoming episodes.
Jailhouse Block was a weak episode if you compare it with the first and second episode. Still, Telltale Games preparing something big for the fourth and fifth episode and we can see it from episode three.

Minecraft Story Mode Season Two started out on a high note for me, but as I wrap up Episode 3, Jailhouse Block, I'm to the point where the only notes worth appreciating are the musical ones.
With forgettable sequences through most of the episode, Jailhouse Block is the weakest episode of the season
If you haven’t gotten this episode yet, go get it. It’s worth it if not for the story and characters alone.
An improvement over the previous episodes and the last season, but still marred by technical problems with Telltale's aging engine.
Minecraft Story Mode Season 2, Episode 3: Jailhouse Block isn't awful, it's just so disappointingly middling.
After revealing his true identity (so far), the Admin throws Jesse and the gang into a prison, surrounded by a maze full of bizarre mutations of the monsters from the Minecraft universe. Breaking out of this prison will bring new revelations and also a tough decision right in the middle of the adventure. Most of the episode focuses on developing the story, but the player is rewarded at the end with good moments of action, including a boss fight.

Episode 3 deepens the story with new characters, trying to explain who is the Admin, but on the other hand there's no real action: the element we appreciated in the previous chapter.

There's an interesting choice near the end which could see some major ramifications between the group moving forward, and a strong final 'boss' sequence was entertaining and visually, finally brought a bit of excitement to proceedings, but it wasn't enough to save whatever the previous 80 minutes were before it. The story progression was next to none and the location was really dull, making Jailhouse Block a huge misfire.
Jailhouse Block is a big step in the right direction for Minecraft: Story Mode Season Two and is far better than the first two episodes with a really well-paced and fast flowing plot. The more impactful decisions and a humorous appearance from a well-known artist keep your attention from start to finish – although that's not saying much with a running time shorter than an hour.
Episode 3 is the best episode yet in this new series.
The story dives in a few places too. Characters sudden appearance and sudden disappearance just seems to be to fill holes in the story, and the introduction of new characters is done with some haste and feels janky. It seems like they had a solid beginning, but missed out time on the ending, focusing more on just connecting it to the next chapter than giving a fulfilling set of reasons to take you there.
The third episode of Minecraft: Story Mode Season Two plays things too safe. The characters are a little too one-note, and though the Sunshine Institute has the potential to be an interesting setting, everything just feels phoned in.
Minecraft: Story Mode Season Two - Episode 3: Jailhouse Block is the latest and so far greatest episode in the second season of this Telltale Games series. It is interesting to see how Season Two is paralleling the first for me - if not in story line, at least in how it progresses and improves with every new chapter.
As the season progresses, I'm thinking more and more that the admin is going to be the ultimate nemesis to Jesse. He's evil, but then again has a cartoonish villain charm in the way he acts. I can't wait to play the next episode!
