Transference is wasted on Xbox One, since it does not support VR. It is not only unbelievably short, it is lacking in content and substance. It is a perfect example of a "one and done" kind of game where you never look back after completing it, and then forget all about it. It might get brought up later in life, but even then, memories of playing it will be foggy at best. Half-remembered dreams are more memorable than Transference.
Transference fails in both storytelling and creating an engaging gameplay. The story is extremely vague and unclear, and the ending is confusing. On the other hand, the puzzles are easy and not that much fun. I can only hope the next cooperation between Ubisoft and a film production company leads to a much better game.

A mildly spooky walking simulator whose plot, acting, and puzzles fails to benefit from its Hollywood connections and is even more disappointing without VR.
Transference won't leave you with anything to remember it with, the story isn't thrilling at all and the experience is too short with very obvious puzzles.

Dangerously overpriced surrealist horror.
Transference will definitely creep you out a bit. Especially while playing in virtual reality and some headphones. Other than that though, 25 bucks is an extreme asking price for something so short and an overall mediocre and repetitive experience.
The challenge of Transference's puzzles tapers off, and there's little subtlety when it comes to certain themes, but great use of some grim audio make this a decent little horror game.
Transference's inventively spins its story of obsession and broken families into a game that's all about perception and twisted realities. It's not entirely successful, failing to confront the topics it raises and failing to live up to its Hollywood billing and origins, but it's still deeply atmospheric as you flick between realities, solve puzzles and figure out the lengths to which Raymond Hayes would truly go.
Transference is a great game to experience in VR, but outside of that fails to leave you with any sort of lasting impression.

Transference stars well, but in the end, fails to deliver a good story or gameplay. but despite all these problems, the game has a great atmosphere and offers a touching horror experience which is hard to forget even after finishing the game.

If you have an extra 25$, you can choose to spend it on a short trip to the world of Transference, though a few exciting and maybe scary moments aside, your trip might not be as good as you have imagined.

In the end, Transference is in an odd position. The atmosphere is completely engrossing, since the crumbling digital landscape and ominous repeated dialogue and other sounds create an unsettling world. Jump-scares are light, and almost all the puzzles are easy enough to solve even with some fumbling around. With that said, the tale can seem disturbing, but the scattershot way it's told doesn't make the game very memorable when compared to either its horror or walking simulator contemporaries. Transference remains a game that's worth checking out, but it's not one that players should be in a rush to seek out over other similar titles.
While Transference offers something unique in how it utilises sound, throwing in the mechanic of switching between alternate realities for puzzle solving, it sadly falls flat in its narrative and doesn't offer much to encourage you to come back and explore.
Transference ends as disappointment gameplay and story-wise. The option to play the game without a VR Headset is well-meant but poorly executed. We recommend to try the demo in the playstation store first before you buy this short and simple experience.

Transference is a competent narrative-driven game featuring some well-crafted puzzles and an amazingly eerie atmosphere. Sadly, the narrative doesn't really go anywhere, despite a very interesting premise, with no twist and no surprises at all, making it very hard to recommend to people looking for an interesting story. Coupled with its very short length, Transference is not really worth its current price.
Short, inconclusive, but monstrously intense, Transference represents the next step forward for narrative games.
Transference is in some ways, a tighter twist on Bloober Team's Observer (with a dash of that company's Layers of Fear in the mix). But it never reaches the loopy and inventive highs of that game's head-messing. Not that there isn't merit to the strange and disturbing places Transference goes because it definitely has a good line in loopy. It just needed a bit more substance to the quieter moments.
Transference presents a unique premise and some interesting ideas but ultimately falls a short in realizing their potential. That said, it’s worth checking out in VR for its captivating audiovisual experience.
Transference is an enjoyable thriller that retains its effectiveness in a non-VR setting. Despite gameplay simplicity and underutilized live-action videos, the strong atmosphere and a few memorable scenes help this sci-fi adventure leave a lasting mark.
